Feedback from Schools and Learners

The feedback below reflects how The Maths Clinic resources have been used in real learning contexts to support understanding, confidence and progress in Mathematics.

Impact of Mathematics Learning Videos

Pre-Form 1 Programme

The mathematics learning videos provided were used as a key supplementary resource during Kijana Kwanza’s 12-week residential Pre-Form 1 Programme, supporting 52 students preparing for the transition to secondary school.

Students entered the programme with very weak mathematics foundations, with most scoring between 10–40% in baseline assessments. The videos were used to reinforce core concepts, support revision, and build confidence through clear explanations and repeated exposure to key topics. This allowed students to revisit challenging material independently and strengthened their understanding of numeracy and problem-solving skills.

By the end of the programme, the impact was clearly reflected in assessment results. The majority of students achieved scores between 70–99% in mathematics, with a large proportion scoring above 90%. Students demonstrated improved mental arithmetic, greater accuracy, stronger problem-solving skills, and increased confidence in approaching mathematical tasks.

Overall, the mathematics videos played a valuable role in supporting structured lessons, improving comprehension, and accelerating progress for learners who began the programme significantly below expected level. The resource contributed meaningfully to students’ readiness for Form 1 and their confidence in mathematics moving forward.
